Okay ladies and gents, it's almost time for that change we were talking about, but before that happens we'd like those of you witty enough to help out with an article we're writing for the new site launch. So here's the deal, if you've been playing mass effect 2, there must be points where you think, it would be hilarious if that character said that. So our article will be called "Quotes You Never Heard in Mass Effect But Should Have" and as an example.. here's a couple to get your witty brains a ticking....

No it's not a new game, this is info for our loyal readership here who check in with us daily. You may have noticed a slight decline in content the last week, this is because we're working our tails off especially for you to make your Lesbian Gamers and Lesbian Geek experience a better one. We can't say much more than that at this time, but we'd love it if you stuck by us during this period and didn't lose heart if there's less news / reviews than usual. It's finally here Mass Effect 2 - So what do you think?

Well a lot of people may well be cooing over the Apple iPad, but any lesbian gamer, or for that matter gamer worth their Xbox 360 owning salt is also playing a little game called Mass Effect 2. Yes it's out, finally and we'd like to hear your thoughts about the game, so we can collate them into a big ass Mass Effect 2 round-up from differing perspective. Do you love it? Hate it? How are the women portrayed? Anything bugging you? Anything that is genius? How many love interests are there for the lady loving lady? Jot them in the comments, or if you're the shy type, drop us a line via email. We'll hopefully be reviewing this title shortly, once we've played it to death obviously.

Meet Kat - Catherine - female character in Halo Reach

Well looks like our guessing games regarding female characters in Halo Reach fell a little flat. At this stage it looks like there will only be one female character and it's neither Linda or Kelly as many thought. Meet Catherine aka Kat, she's been listed at the Halo Reach site in the personnel section. According to her bio she was born in MONASTIR, NEW HARMONY on 30/01/2530. You can check out the full bio and all the others at the Halo Reach site. Well at least it seems there is one playable female character this time around.

One Lesbian Gamer's Breathtaking Gaming Moments of 2009

There are 3 huge titles upon us for 2010. Starting next week it is of course Mass Effect II that is released, swiftly followed by BioShock 2 and Aliens vs. Predator. With some of the huge games of 2010 almost upon us I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the year that's been and check out some of the more breathtaking / OMFG moments in video games for 2009. All the ones I could muster after the jump... add your own, I'd love to hear them!

Is Luigi's Mansion coming out on Wii?

What are Nintendo up to, they've just taken out - what seems to be - a new trademark for Luigi's Mansion. Like a ghost in the night the trademark popped up at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The interesting thing here is that unlike before when Nintendo has reinstated the trademark, this appears to be a new filing. It might be nothing (just Ninty covering their behinds), or it could be that Luigi and his trembling voice is coming to Wii. This was a fantastic game on the GameCube, albeit a little short (if you don't have it pick it up), so the thought of it finally making it's way to Wii is brilliant... we can but hope.

Female character spotted in Aliens vs Predator trailer

You know we're REALLY looking forward to the new Aliens vs Predator game [now that it's no longer banned by the fascists OFLC here in Australia]. We've also contacted Sega to find out if there's any female marines (awaiting response), given the films they're based on feature quite a few. We haven't spotted any Vasquez / Dietrich / Ferro types in any of the trailers as of yet, but you might like to see the Weyland Yutani trailer below because there is definitely a chick there, although, she looks to have had a bad curry...

Apple iSlate invites go out?

A lot of lesbians love their Apple products (okay at least 80% of the ones I hang with anyway), so for that reason this is big news. That rumored "iSlate" looks like it's edging ever closer to reality. Invitations have gone out to the press inviting them to come see Apple's "latest creation". Given the Wall Street Journal let the cat out of the bag on this one a few weeks ago, there's really no big shocker (the shock would be if it wasn't the iSlate). Who else is looking interestingly at this thing, it could mean a whole new world of touch screen gaming, not to mention ebooks, comics, anime etc.

Get your Bayonetta on thanks to Sega

What?! It's Monday already? I'm fairly sure I had some sort of time leap occur. That said, as promised we've got a cool Bayonetta competition for you thanks to the rather cool folk at Sega. Veronica Dare followup and debate

Some of you may recall the response my Halo: ODST article received for suggesting the game had elements of sexism, mainly due to the treatment of specific character Veronica Dare. There was little in the followup comments that was thought provoking for me, just a bunch of boys screaming and yelling with hate and general abuse. This week however an article has gone up on HaloWiki by user Dragonclaws and it got me thinking. Firstly it got me thinking about how if someone actually sees what you're saying as opposed to something they 'think' you're saying it can only aid intelligent debate. It also got me thinking that perhaps I was slightly hasty in my own response to the game and its female 'hero'.

Though the author - Dragonclaws - disagrees with majority of the article I penned, I enjoyed his article immensely, because rather than name calling and screaming, he's put forth points as to why he believes some of my points were invalid and - surprise surprise - I agree with some of what he's saying. We may not agree 100%, but that's cool, because this has shown there is room for friendly debate here. As I stated in the original article I am - and always have been - a HUGE Halo fangirl, so it was disheartening to have people who love the same games be so hate-filled in response. The original article was never there to upset anyone.

Borderlands Competition closes, Bayonetta Comp due to rock!

This is just a little heads up that our Borderlands Competition has now ended and the prizes have been sent! We hope you winners all enjoy them. Now, it's already time for our next competition, thanks to the folks at SEGA. Tomorrow our Bayonetta Climax Edition comp will go live, giving you the chance to score the game and goodies on either Xbox 360 or PS3. Now go strap some toy guns to your high heels for practice (yeah we know, maybe that should say Birkenstocks lol).

Return to Ostagar DLC for Dragon Age: Origins is live apparently

Ladies and gents, look what's snuck onto Xbox Live, it's the Dragon Age expansion Return to Ostagar DLC. If you've finished Dragon Age: Origins (man do you have a lot of spare time) this should fill you with glee. It doesn't look like it's available for PC or PS3 users just yet though and it seems the easiest way to access it on the Xbox 360 is in the in-game menu. Go forth and smite!

Star Trek Online Open Beta starts today treksters!

Attention Star Fleet cadets! On the off chance you've forgotten, today is the day the open beta for Star Trek Online begins. If youve already got your beta key you can head on over to the official site and crack on. If you don't have a beta key, but fancy yourself in one of those Starfleet uniforms that looked so fetching of Jadzia Dax, you're in luck too. Head over to the official site and make it so!

Why Miranda Lawson is going to kick ass

Well we hope she's going to kick ass, we also hope that despite not being a mono gendered alien that Miranda - if a romantic interest for the male Shepard - will also be a romantic interest for the female Shepard. The genetically engineered Cerberus operative will be one of the main protagonists in Mass Effect 2, which by the way is only a couple of weeks away. I know! Can you believe it's almost time to fight the good fight again! Miranda is just one of the cool female characters to appear in the game.

No female Shepard action figure for us?

This leaked image (courtesy GamerVision) of upcoming Mass Effect figures shows we're once more being stiffed when it comes to choice, since it looks like we're stuck with only a male Shepard (as with the larger statuette that was released). These are yet to be approved and there's no word on any variants or second set, but we can hope at some point merchandising will realize if a game has a protagonist with gender choice, maybe releasing one of each version might be nice for those who wish to purchase the version they play in game (though obviously you're never going to get the actual version since you choose their appearance). Don't get us started on official screenshots, videos and wallpapers.

Bayonetta first impressions - Not feeling the Bayonetta love fest

Bayonetta is presently being lauded with high review scores. If we fell in line with those scores here at Lesbian Gamers it would get the coveted "Carmen's Lapdance" review score, but I gotta tell ya, I'm not feeling the Bayonetta love fest just yet. Granted I've played the title for only a few hours, so before reviewing it obviously many more hours are needed, but as first impressions go, I just don't know why all the noise about this game. Some writers are suggesting this redefines genres, that it is the BEST action fighter since the dawn of time. At the moment I feel like it was designed by 14 year old boys hitting puberty with a penchant for BDSM and weird Japanese soundtracks. That said it's not awful, It is a good game (technically), with a lot going on, but is it really worth almost perfect review scores? Why do you love / loathe Bayonetta? I'll be reviewing this title properly once I've finished it, remember this is just ones persons thoughts based on a first impression. Now imagine Jo Frost (Super Nanny) as Bayonetta (not hard is it?!), that would be pretty pretty pretty cool... "get on the naughty step you bad bad girl". Terrifying.
