The L Sims

The L Word, as you all no doubt know, is a massive series on the lesbian TV calendar. With season 5 now in session, we thought it would be fun to mix things up a little here at Lesbian Gamers and put a shout out to the series-that since 2004 has had us loving, laughing and sometimes loathing (see what we did there?). MySims is a title for the Nintendo Wii (and DS though this article is for the Wii) that takes place in a town of your creation. You can build and customize your entire town and you can make your own playable character. Sit back, relax and let’s take a peek at what happens in MySims when some new characters move into town and shake things up a little.

Bette Porter Bette Porter is the cultural Sim about town, she’s director of the Gallery of Sim Art, one of the less conventional galleries in town. She lives with her girlfriend Tina and spends most of her money on ugly artwork she can rotate in home. Tina and her seem really happy, but will things stay that way we wonder, or will a new boy sim move into town and f_ck things up for them.

Tina Kennard I’m here so you can hate me then love me then hate me again. I  represent the 'lesbian' who is confused, kinda like Jenny, but without  the pixie side. I like girls, then boys, then girls, hell I just like getting some. Try as I might I just can’t get away from the control  freaks in town, I guess I need to admit I kinda like that and the  nickname Tibette is just so adorable.

Kate 'Kit' Porter I moved into town and opened a popular coffee shop. Only good looking people are allowed in my shop unless I have a party and then we let in some normal folk now and again. My half sister Bette lives in town with her partner Tina, but they only visit my apartment in a crisis. I hook up with the most unlikely people you could imagine. Find me a drag-king, a femme boy or a lesbo playa and I’m there along with a bottle of scotch.

Shane McCutcheon Shane is the dyke sim about town. All the girlies swoon for her, though we’re not sure why, maybe it’s her mad hair, soft voice, big bulbous eyes or ultra scrawnly frame, whatever it is Shane is in town to stay. This Sim shows us how not to do two things: relationships and her own hair-ironic since she's a hairdresser. She's been known to also model underwear and sit on steps swigging beer.

Alice Pieszecki Alice works at the local Sims Radio station (ST 101.1), she’s part social commenter, part agony aunt, part comedian. This Sim shows us what it's like to be whacky with heart. Most of the Sims in town adore Alice, she’s quick witted, cute and looks even better in glasses. Alice is best friends with Dana Fairbanks, a MySims champion tennis player who lives in her closet (not Alice's closet, well not til season 4).

Dana Fairbanks Dana Fairbanks is well known all over MySims Town. Last year she took out the inaugural Sims Cup at Fairmeadows Stadium. She’s often seen training with her ‘boyfriend’ (and doubles partner) Harrison Scott-he's a total queer and not a very good beard. Dana also spends a lot of time off the court at the local country club. She hangs out in the restaurant there. Apparently she likes how one chef tastes.

Carmen de la Pica Morales Carmen is new to town, she’s a local DJ and also works part time at Sim Brothers Film Studio as a gopher. She’s way cute, but has a habit of falling for losers who dump her last minute and do a dance on her little latino heart. Hopefully that won’t happen now she’s moved to MySims town. Rumor has it Carmen has the best butt cheeks on Earth, no really, the whole of the Earth. She's also prone to hurling pizza.. cooked pizza.

Helena Peabody She swans in and out of MySims town on her private jet. Rumor has it Helena actually has a couple of kids, but you never see them anymore, despite the fact she was apparently once enamored of them. We heard they might have been abducted by a UFO, but you can never trust The Sims Enquirer when you read it. She’s got more money than morals, but is prone to bi-polarity so could change her personality from power whore bitch to sweet friend at the flick of a switch.

Max Sweeney Max wasn’t a happy girl, so she became a boy, actually (s)he’s still physically a girl, but in her heart of hearts (s)he’s a boy. You know Max is a boy because (s)he has a goatee, wears boys clothes and has lots of testosterone that apparently affected everything but her / his voice. Max is a computer whiz, but a bit of a pain in the ass. Max is another one of the multiple personality lot, there's a lot of those in town.

Eva 'Papi' Torres Papi is so cool she doesn't even have a last name, sort of like Cher, or Pink. Actually her name is Eva, but she prefers Papi, go figure. She's a slut, but no one would ever say that, instead they say she's a 'playa', with amazing bedroom skills. She acts like she's a Latino gangster, but looks like a caricature of a latino wigga--Wassup ma sista. To top it off she also has a one sided rivalry with Shane, which is lame.

Tasha The only reason Tasha moved into MySims Town is so there's a token lezzie army person. It's like the MySims mayor thought it was time to highlight the plight of gays and lesbians in the US army and granted her a visa. Strangely Tasha hooks up with the most non-army person ever, a MySims radio personality with very conflicting views about the invasion and occupation of foreign countries.

Jenny Schecter She’s not actually a Sim, but it’s a secret. She’s a pixie. Every now and again a pixie moves to MySims town with a mission, to make everyone’s lives as happy-miserable-happy-miserable as they can. Yes they’re prone to swift personality change, kind of like Helena, only she’s not a pixie like Jenny. Jenny works in a supermarket, but has dreams of one day being a famous writer, so she can treat people like sh_t for no apparent reason.

That was really good. I love how Alice has a huge dopey smile. Max actually looks like Max. But pretty funny. I remember in Sims2 I tried to make an L Word Sims house... It failed. I think Jenny lit the oven on fire and Shane refused to get a job. [hmmm... big surprise...]
