Jodie Foster plays Guitar Hero

It seems people are a little stunned that Jodie Foster likes a little Guitar Hero in her life. Foster was recently quoted as saying "Guitar Hero is big. We fight each other over it. I'm bad at it, but I'm still better than them. I have no musical ability. I tried in my life. I tried to learn the trumpet, that wasn't so good. The good thing about Guitar Hero is you can just [press the buttons and] go 'blue, green, green, green, blue, green, green...'"

You may recall Ellen DeGeneres likes a little Guitar Hero in her life too. What is it about lesbians and guitars, or drums for that matter. RockBand and Guitar Hero could certainly be doing with a few more dyke anthems given the apparent appeal the titles have to Sapphic gamers.

Doomsday - Lara Croft meets a plague

This is a crossover post between Lesbian Geek and Lesbian Gamers .com. You’ll see why shortly, but first here’s the upshot. Doomsday is an upcoming film by Neil Marshall, he’s a British writer / director perhaps best known for werewolf gore fest Dog Soldiers and girly caving flick The Descent. Grrls may well think Doomsday is cool because it stars Rhona Mitra as a specialist soldier named Eden Sinclair.

The clip below the theatrical trailer and shows the hero Eden Sinclair kicking ass as well as giving the background to the story (in short Scotland is plague ridden and closed off to the rest of the UK, but returned to 25 years later to look for a cure).

The gaming link comes in that Rhona Mitra was the original Lara Croft model. Be sure and check out the full trailer and tell us you don’t think Rhona would make a pretty cool Lara Croft, sure maybe not as cool as Angelina, but pretty darn close. On a Lesbian Geek side link in, Rhona is also the lead in the upcoming werewolf film Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

Shane McCutcheon - Gamer

So anyone else notice Shane playing the DS in a recent episode of The L Word? During her celibate stage, she clearly needs something to keep her hands busy so decides to join us here on Lesbian Gamers and use her hands for other things too.

Kit asks her what she’s playing and Shane informs her she’s playing Lara Croft Legend. Of course this prompts Kit to state “she’s a hottie” and Shane to respond with “that’s not why I’m playing this game”. Clearly even the straight girls think Lara is hot.

Anyway, it’s not the first time Shane has shown herself to be a gamer. Back in season 3 she played Halo with Alice on her Xbox. Clearly that girl needs to come out of the gaming closet – don’t worry Shane, it’ll only make it hotter to us if you do.

Two video clips of gaming Shane after the jump…

Sarah Connor Chronicles

You know although we're gaming heavy, we do like to cover anything in pop culture that may be of lesbian interest and we thought this fell into that category--so here goes the lesbian connection. Sarah Connor in the new TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is played by Lena Headey--she played the cute florist (Luce) in 'Imagine Me and You' with Piper Perabo. Okay so now we've got that out of the way, let's have a brief look at why you might like this series.

Firstly it's about Sarah Connor, mother of the future, savior of all mankind in the James Cameron Terminator films (We're ignoring Terminator 3 as we didn't like it and anyway, it didn't have Sarah Connor!). The TV series got off to a fairly good start and if you can put time-line plot holes bigger than Kit Porters butt aside, you will probably enjoy it. The story follows Sarah Connor as she tries to protect her son, with a little help from Summer Glau--she of Firefly / Serenity fame. Give it a try, you might like it.

Lesbian Relationship in Battlestar Galactica

What's this? This isn't gaming news! Well sometimes you have to go with the flow, sometimes you have to go with an exclusive and we've got one for you. A little bird tells us that the 'rumored' lesbian content in the upcoming Battlestar Galactica Razor is true. Yes ladies apparently their are dykes in space and particularly on the Pegasus.

We don't want to spoiler this news by giving you details (yes we know who they are). Suffice to say one of them is who you might expect (and no needless to say it isn't Kara Thrace, even though she's a screamer) and the other explains a whole lot of backstory. Battlestar Razor screens in the US November 24 on SciFi and from Nov 12 at various cinemas across the country--as part of a marketing tie-in with Microsoft title Mass Effect for the Xbox 360. Ahh there, we managed to link it to gaming afterall. Battlestar Razor is out on R1 DVD Dec 4.
