Lesbian Gamers is back online - No thanks to Dodo Australia!

Just a little update for you guys. We're back with an internet connection, though still not the full one, thanks to the incompetence of one "Dodo Australia" we've had to purchase a wifi dongle and credit just to get a connection! That complaint aside the LG move has gone smoothly and the new office is schweeta!

Things you should know:
Gay Girls Who Game will film as normal this coming weekend and go live here and at Afterellen around Tues Weds next week (assuming Dodo actually connect us when they've said this time!).

LG HQ on the move - Apologies

just wanted to let you know things are manic with us at the moment, as we're in the middle of a big move. Posts here and at Lesbian Geek .com may be sporadic over the next week (or two dependent on when our ISP actually connect our internet back up). Just wanted to keep you all in the loop if not much is going live, so you know the site is alive and well, even if our internet connection is not during the moving process. We will return to normal programming once the madness has settled down. Hey on the upside this is the low point of the gaming season, so a lot is rubbish news anyway.

Lesbian Gamers Gamertag Database

Imagine - like 'Teresa' - you're a lesbian and you want to play with other lesbian gamers. you can't say you're a lesbian in your bio because MS and Sony don't like it. Wouldn't it be handy to have a list of lesbian gamers gamertags? Recently we've be thrashing about the idea of having a lesbian gamertag database here at the site. It sounds flash, but it would essentially be a page that lists anyone's XBL / PSN gamertags that wished it added. In turn this would then be a great way for other lesbian gamers to have an instant friends list if they wanted to play with other lesbians.

Seeking teenage lesbian gamer

I was recently discussing this site with an old friend and we got onto the question of age and gaming. This led to talk about young lesbians, girls who might still be at school and dealing with all that brings. Lord knows some ladies know they're gay from pre-school, but some may be coming to terms with it a little older. If these girls are gamers, it's important for them to have a safe place to come and chill and also meet other lesbian gamers.

Though we feel Lesbian Gamers is indeed that place, we'd also like to be inclusive and not write from another persons reality if that isn't our reality. My pal said "how about a teenage lesbian gamers column". I'm waaay.... waaaay past my teens, sure I still remember it, but I can't possibly write a column coming from that place. So, if you're a teenage lesbian gamer and you'd like a writing gig, get in touch with us.

Xbox Live - Sexuality and Context article

We've been looking into the issue of sexuality on Xbox Live, particularly in gamertags and written a small article about it. The whole issue is one that is wrapped in confusion and hypocrisy. We're still throwing together that open letter to MS and will probably post a draft over the weekend (as we're working with many others and we'd like to thank everyone involved). This is the time to act, to bring fairness to the hobby that we love and if we must start with MS, then so be it.. we haven't forgotten about Sony however.
