Buffy fans heads up, this one's for you. We thought we'd cover not one, but two Buffy titles in development. Firstly the newly announced "Buffy the Vampire Slayer MMO" by The Multiverse Network. The game will be based on Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show unsurprisingly. This of course means you might be playing your very own virtual lesbian Willow when the time comes!
According to various reports the Buffy MMO will be released in two iterations, a full 3D setting as well as Flash-based 2D. the Buffy MMO has taken precedence over the previously touted Firefly MMO, so it's a bit of a bittersweet announcement. MMO's aside, Buffy is also set to hit the DS later this year in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice" by 505 Games. We've got screenshots of that version after the jumperoo.
Buffy and the Scooby Gang in your pocket, ahhh bliss.

UPDATE:
Just a bit of additional info to this story.
The game will be released in a 2D, Flash-based version first, with a full 3D version being released at a later date.
"It will start as a 2D Flash-based MMO where you can go on missions and interact with other players. This will extend once we have the 3D client working."
Expect a public beta "really soon".

I'm worried about the 2D thing they keep on talking about for the game, but honestly, it could look like snake for an old nokia phone and I'd buy it. I wonder which button they'll assign for devastating quips after slayage.
