We get a few emails here at Lesbian Gamers stating or asking many things, from what games we like to our personal favorite at showing the moronic nature of some internet users “Why do you bitch about no females in games when you probably look like a man don’t you”. Ahem.
Anyway, abusive emails aside, we’re counting on that sector of the world that has intelligence to hit us up with questions in our new regular news piece ‘Question a Lesbian Gamer’ [send your questions HERE and we’ll try and cover as many as we can]. Here’s one we got recently to kick things off:
Lesbian Gamer what are your picks for games that might get my non gaming girlfriend to play with me?
It’s nice for couples to have diverging interests, but can be even nicer when you can share a common love for something other than the new iPod you bought, or the local Italian restaurant.
Having a non gaming girlfriend can be a bit of a drag, but fear not, there are ways to lure in that non gaming girlfriend with differing strategies. Here are our picks for you…. good luck.
Nintendo DS… is kind of being marketed as a fun technology device, rather than a kids video gaming handheld, which is nice and may be a good place to start. If your girlfriend is the intellectual type get her a DS and Sudoku, Brain Training or other ‘non gaming’ title to lure her in. If your girlfriend likes all things cute, get Animal Crossing Wild World.
For the big consoles, think about what your girlfriend is like generally. Does she love the sound of her own voice or have a penchant for singing in the shower? Try Singstar on any format. Is she a quiz nut? Try Buzz or Scene It on the PS2 and Xbox 360 respectively. Does she like card and board games? XBLA is your first stop. Hit her up with some Carcassonne or Uno.
If that doesn’t work…. get a new girlfriend.
Peace Out! – The Lesbian Gamer Oracle.

Well, I have a non-gaming partner, and I wouldn't trade her for the world. She'd probably drive me nuts if we gamed together. She shops, I game. It works for us!

I couldn't imagine having a significant other who didn't have the same passion for gaming that I have! Granted, I've only had one serious boyfriend, but I'd love to have a girlfriend who shares the same major interest(s) as me. It just wouldn't work out if she didn't have that element to her. :(
