Apple handheld gaming?

What is Apple up to. On Feb 5 Apple filed to expand its trademark to cover a wide variety of interesting things related to gaming. The filing includes: “Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games."

Apple tried and failed in the console market once before with the ill-fated Pippin console back in 1995. This new filing sounds like possibly they’re going to try and jump back on the gaming bandwagon, perhaps with a handheld device of some type. Time will tell, if they do it will make things very interesting.
