Mass Effect Out Now - Australia
Just a quick one for our Aussie contingent. Mass Effect aka the game with the 'lesbian sex' scenes in it is out today in Australia. EB Australia has broken the release date and will be selling it as soon as stock arrives. At time of writing that's just a couple of hours away - we phoned our local store to double check this wasn't a con.
So there you have it, Australian ladies will be able to take control of Jane Shepherd within a matter of hours. You can check out the Australian EB Site to see we're not telling porkies. We'll let you know what we think of Mass Effect later today in the comments section of this post.
Right, I've been playing this for a few hours and this is my thoughts.. prepare to be shocked.
I think it looks nice and I LOVE that it has soo many female characters in it. Great, all good so far....
I like the idea of it giving you the option of choosing a variety of different responses that then shape the storyline.....
BUT (there had to be one)... essentially to me, it's overkill with this aspect. There's not enough action for me and I feel like the game doesn't know what it's meant to be. It looks like and feels like just another futuristic shooter, yet you spend most of your time listening to people talk.. like a long storybook...
So.. I'm not sure on it yet. The graphics jump around a lot and have a few bugs it would seem.... it's just not really living up to the hype for me. Infact it doesn't even look as good or atmospheric to me as Bioshock and I am wishing I had played that now instead of just watching it being played.
Anyway, that's my thoughts... I will prepare for the enslaught.

Mass Effect is a Role Playing Game, like all the other Bioware Titles (Jade Empire, KOTOR1&2). It was never intended to be a shooter. Well, i don't have my copy yet so i can't comment on anything else.
