Needless to say there's a fair few games on sale this Independence Day weekend in the US and Steam has a fantastic offer on Fallout 3. You'll be able to get the game (minus DLC packs) for half price, $25. If you don't mind waiting though, be aware the Game of the Year Bundle releases in October and it will include all the DLC packs for $50.
FrozenByte's delightful looking title Trine is now available via Steam for $30. The game is also set for release on the Playstation Network priced ten bucks cheaper, so if you've got a PS3 you might want to wait. Trine will also be releasing on Xbox Live Arcade, though no date is set. That version will feature online co-op mode (not featured in the PC and PS3 editions).
How Silverlight powered ads will enhance the XBL service is anyone's guess, but that's the word from Microsoft. Larry Hryb has stated "One of our core principles is to enhance, not interfere with the gaming experience, and we work directly with our partners to only deliver experiences that are relevant to the LIVE community. Silverlight will help make those ads a more organic part of the dashboard". Now it may be just me, but given I'm paying around $80 a year for XBL, I don't want ANY ads enhancing my experience. What do you guys think?
This is one of the strangest game announcements ever. Paramount and 505 Games are apparently releasing "Grease" on the Nintendo Wii. Yeah, that's Grease as in "Look at me I'm Sandra Dee". Sounds like the game will be a music game, probably involving singing and dancing. So who else wants to grab a satin pink jacket monogrammed with "Pink Ladies" and rock on out with Rizzo and Frenchie?... Just me then.
Developer NinjaBee will be adding avatar support to Band of Bugs. The update will arrive July 8. NinjaBee are the team that brought us the rather brilliant A Kingdom for Keflings which we reviewed here. As well as the avatar addition for Band of Bugs, NinjaBee revealed a Tales of Kaloki expansion for Band of Bugs. Head over to NinjaBee for more info.
Love or loathe her Megan Fox is one of the biggest starlets in Hollywood at the moment. She mouths off about being bi, but not wanting to sleep with bi girls, she mouths off about going bulldyke, but she also mouths off about something we love... gaming. Developer Renegade Kid (makers of Dementium: The Ward and Moon) has a new title up their sleeve titled "Maximillian and the Rise of the Mutant Mudds". The title is expected to release on Nintendo DS, though there are rumblings it may see DSiWare.
Red Faction: Guerrilla is getting some DLC love for the PS3 and Xbox 360 this year. The first of the three scheduled DLC content packs will release August 13 titled "Demons of the Badlands". The pack which features a single player mission will cost you around ten bucks. The two other packs will arrive later this year.
The rumor mill is whirring with news of the PS3 Slim. Chinese site UDN are suggesting Sony has already begun production on the PS3 Slim and the delivery date is stated as July. This could be a rumor, because Sony are still keeping schtum, but they are known for their slimline console rehashes. Guess we'll see what happens. Personally I like my big boned gal.
Major Nelson has been beta testing a new clothes line on XBL, but they're not gaming costumes, just branded gaming gear. Randy No Arms was sporting a nice set of Halo branded gear and you can see him after the jump. No word on any "I Can't Even Think Straight" or "I'm Not a Lesbian But My Girlfriend Is" tees, but we can hope.

The achievements are in for upcoming game Batman: Arkham Asylum. There's 47 in all, worth 1,000 points. The list at Xbox Achievements is for the Windows version of the game, but let's assume the Xbox 360 version will be similar if not the same. Maybe one of those secret achievements is Batwoman coming out of the closet? Yeah we doubt it too.
Everquest II is set for a sweet expansion as of February 2010. Sony Online Entertainment made the announcement at the Everquest Fan Faire convention in Las Vegas. Everquest II's sixth expansion will be Sentinel's Fate, which will increase the level cap to 90. You'll also be able to play older content and still gain XP. The 16th (not a typo) expansion for the original Everquest was also announced and will release November titled Underfoot.
